Project Brief
Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia or PAM has been actively involved in the development and outreach programmes related to the professional field of architecture. Previously located in a historical bungalow in Jalan Tangsi, KL, it moved to its new headquarters in Jalan Tandok, Bangsar in 2016. Known as the PAM Centre, it makes full use of the narrow site but wide frontage to announce its presence in the area. Although it often holds events, talks and exhibitions on site, there are distinct limitations imposed by the layout and availability of private and public spaces for courses and workshops. Your proposed PAM Learning Hub certainly is to allow PAM works beyond its limitation on the larger events.
How it started
The video shows the preliminary ideas of The Interchange. It was a video produced for Design Studio's first Interim Critique Session.

The Lobby
The image shows the lobby of The Interchange. Features include the spiral staircase that leads guests to the Auditorium as well as the Green Wall as a feature wall for the reception.
Material Library
The image shows the material library of The Interchange. Features include the protruding seating area and the double volume space that plays with the sense of scale as well as the curtain wall and clerestory windows that allow natural light to gently penetrate the space.
Restaurant
The image shows the restaurant of The Interchange, named Food Junction. Features include the mezzanine floor, outdoor seating, and the curtain wall that allows natural light to shine in as well as giving visitors a view of the landscape.
Co-Working Space
The image shows the co-working space of The Interchange. Features include the spiral staircase that leads guests to the other floor of the co-working space and also the flexible floor arrangement for users to carry out various activities.
